techinical administration jobs
The main function of an adminstrator is to support the office manager in making the administrative function run more efficiently.
Admin and office jobs require a broad range of skills, both interpersonal and technical. You need to be a good communicator (both verbally and in writing) and someone able to organise and prioritise. Working on your own initiative is expected but you must keep the team ethic in mind as you will need to liaise with fellow adminstrators on a daily basis.
Scope to move into administration and office manager jobs
Clerical duties typically involve organising meetings/travel, taking minutes, monitoring stationery orders and keeping track of staff whereabouts (annual leave and sickness records). You might liase with landlords about premises related issues ie cleaning services, office repairs. You will also probably be a budget holder and need to keep accurate records of expenditure. Your IT skills will need to be excellent, in particular MS applications.
Progression opportunities to team leader or office manager jobs with line management responsibilities are excellent. Your duties could include HR matters (running recruitment, induction days, training etc) and arranging health and safety equipment and testing.
